Hate Versus Justification

Don’t you just love taking each table spoon of salt?
Swallow it down now, once, twice, keep your expression blank hun.
And again, silence, expressionlessness, twin of ice you are.
Don’t those little white crystals of venom taste so sweet and light on your tongue?
Another bite, another word, come on, it’s not that bad.

Your eyes, yeah they light up with fire but you can’t let them know they’ve won.
Yeah, your face twists with disgust but it’s just a little contest after all.
Pride versus spite, hate versus justification, lies versus truth, isn’t this warfare fun?

Fire in the friggin’ hole!
Holy shit where’d that half truth come from?
Ahh, but you’re a realist now remember? It doesn’t faze you, now retort with some biting remark.
And you hesitate to type it, you bite your lip timidly and wonder if you’re in the wrong here.

It’s forced down your throat again, that table spoon of salt
That cold heartless silver which holds all the little glittering pristine crystals.
Do you know what salt is?
A white explosive powder and a poisonous gas, isn’t that disconcerting to know?
Come on now, just one more spoon full and you’re done with the fighting for now.

Just let it go, hold your nose and block out the taste, just one spoon full at a time.
Pretend as you normally do, it’s not really what it seems, this isn’t really happening. No, not to you.
Just shake your pretty head and smile your condescending smile and go on about your merry way.
You’ll adjust to it eventually, you’re the adult one here, remember?
